My Favorite Online Activities for Kids During the Coronavirus Crisis

Hi Mommies,

As we are entering week 3 of staying home during the coronavirus crisis, I was wondering what you were all doing to help the kids stay busy!?! We have been doing online learning (with our amazing teachers) though our school system and the boys have been playing online math games. We have also been watching movies and playing outside when the weather allows.

I try to mix things up a bit so the kids won’t get to bored and wanted to share their favorite activity so far. Last week, we went onto YouTube and we went to Disney World and Universal Studios! We had a blast, going on virtual rides and tours through the park. Then we looked up the 10 scariest rollercoasters in the world and virtually rode on them. It kept them busy for a while and was great fun!

Today, we went on a virtual 4K walking tour of the Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. My kids were amazed at the dinosaur fossils and thought it was so cool that we could be in a museum without actually being IN a museum! We found the tour on YouTube as well. We just searched for virtual walking tours of the museum of Natural History.

Below are a list of a few of my favorite online links for kids. I just included my top (3) choices as not to overwhelm. Hope you enjoy. Also, at the end of this blog is a video update of my family did this week. Would love any comments or additional links to add to the blog!

Please stay safe and stay home.

KidloLand - I have been using this online learning tool for over 4 years!!! I actually partnered with them years ago when they were a new company, and the boys (now 7 and 5) and my 2 year old have been using it ever since! They also have a great coding app for older learners. I contacted Kidloland this week and they would like to give my readers a 10 % discount on an annual subscription ($59.99) using the code MMKL10. The link is www.kidloland.com and you can apply the code at payment. You can also check out a blog post I wrote reviewing the Kidloland app here (https://www.mommiemix.com/blog/2017/1/10/34gg72cl55p9a7mljkqmqgml26myw8?rq=kidloland) for more info about KidloLand or check out their site. I am an annual subscriber and love it.

BrainPopJr - The boys use this tool at school and it’s great for kids ages K and up. There is a ton of information and some great quizzes at the end of each segment to help the kids learn. There are giving families free access for as long as their schools are closed during the crisis. I would definitely check it out.

Cincinnati Zoo - The zoo is doing Home Safari’s every day at 3:00 pm! You can either watch them live at 3:00 PM or you can go online later to watch. They are really fun to watch and you can learn something new everyday. http://cincinnatizoo.org/home-safari-resources/
