5 Fun Things to Do at Home - Without Going Online

Fun with Kids - square image - header.png

Hi Mommies,

As we enter week 4ish of our stay at home time, I wanted to share some fun things to do at home without having to go online.

Hey, it’s ok to be online. I would guess most of our little ones are having more screen time then usual. We are in survival mode. We are doing what needs to get done.

As parents, we know that most kids don’t fully comprehend what’s going on, and they take their cues from us.

At our house, I want to make sure that they try to stay as anxiety and worry free as they can, so we have been working to make sure that we give them extra time to do things that they want to do.

So…in the event that you do want to take a break from screen time, here are some fun ideas! Also, feel free to add suggestions in the comments section! I also added my weekly video update below!

#1 Have a scavenger hunt

You can hide anything around the house and have the kids find it. You could also have the kids hide objects for you to find. Have them make a “Treasure Map” of the house to help you!

#2 Bake or cook with the kids

Look for kid friendly recipes and let the kids help. If that’s to stressful, there may be bakeries in your area who are offering cookie or cupcake decorating kits. I have seen it offered in our area and will be trying it.

#3 Invent a game

Sure, board games and puzzles are fun, but let the kids get creative and have them invent their own board game. Then they can draw it on a piece of cardboard, use toys as game pieces, and you can play at family game night.

#4 Put on a talent show

Have each member of the family either work together or come up with a routine to share. Dance, sing, tell jokes and then perform. The kids will love this and it will be fun for everyone!

#5 Plan an event

A few weeks ago, we celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. We wanted to something special, but of course, had to stay home to do it. The kids and I decided to surprise my husband with a ‘wedding’/vow renewal ceremony.

It was amazing.

Now, you don’t have to recreate a wedding, you can always do something simpler, like having a dress up tea party, date night with the family or special birthday party.

Just make sure to involve the family with planning so everyone can feel like they are part of the day!
